The Kings Oak Hotel
Venue overview
The Kings Oak Hotel is located in High Beach, Essex, nestled within the serene Epping Forest, making it an attractive option for those looking to combine natural beauty with a well-equipped event space. This venue has hosted over 100 weddings annually, featuring multiple spaces designed to cater to various celebration styles, from intimate gatherings to larger receptions.
Visitors will find a mix of traditional and modern features throughout the venue. The Kings Oak Hotel includes several well-appointed rooms, including The Kings Suite, the Victorian Oak Lounge, and the Beach Club Marquee, all designed to provide an elegant setting for any occasion.
Why it may suit weddings and events
Couples can choose from several settings for both ceremonies and receptions. The Kings Room can accommodate up to 120 seated guests, while the Beach Club Marquee is ideal for smaller ceremonies or dining experiences. Importantly, the flexible layout allows for a seamless flow from ceremony to reception, affording couples the option to host everything from cocktails to dinner and dancing in one location.
The outdoor pool and gardens offer a scenic space for guests to relax, and they can be particularly picturesque for photographs. Additionally, the proximity to the historic Church of the Holy Innocents means that couples opting for a traditional church service have a convenient venue for their reception without extensive travel.
DJ setup and supplier access notes
For DJs and suppliers, it’s essential to confirm specifics regarding loading and parking. While the venue is reportedly accessible, clarifying the designated loading area will help ensure a smooth setup process. DJs may want to ask about parking availability on the day of the event and whether there are any restrictions on vehicle access to the hotel grounds.
It’s also recommended to check if there are stairs involved in moving equipment into the various event spaces, particularly for locations like the Victorian Oak Lounge, which could have different access arrangements compared to the main event areas. Additionally, finding out about power availability and the position of power outlets in relation to the setup space is crucial for planning the technical aspects of the event.
Sound, timings and guest experience
Music and sound levels can significantly impact the guest experience, and it’s advisable to inquire whether the venue has sound limiters in place that may affect live performances or DJ sets. This is particularly relevant for evening receptions, which are often when energy levels peak.
Understanding the timing for evening receptions and whether there are set curfews for music and dancing is important for DJs to manage their performance schedule effectively. Open communication with the venue’s events team regarding the flow of the evening can help ensure a seamless experience for all involved.
Reviews and client feedback themes
Feedback from couples who held their weddings at The Kings Oak frequently highlights the professionalism and attentiveness of the staff. Many reviews mention the venue’s beautiful décor and atmosphere, which often requires minimal additional decoration. Several reviewers commented positively on the quality of the food provided, with one stating it was some of the best they had experienced at a wedding. However, couples planning their events should consider confirming specific aspects mentioned in reviews, such as setup logistics and their preferred suppliers for entertainment.
Access and setup arrangements should be confirmed with the venue for a clearer understanding of logistical feasibility.
