DJ SonOfJohn, aka Baz Johnson, is an experienced professional open-format DJ with over 30 years behind the decks, having started DJing in the 1990s.

With a career that has taken him from private parties and weddings to stadium crowds of more than 20,000 people, Baz is all about reading the room, understanding the audience and creating the right atmosphere. He was previously the Matchday DJ and Event Compère for Bristol Bears, providing music, announcements and crowd entertainment.

His musical taste is genuinely eclectic. While he has a particularly strong ’80s game, Baz really excels from the 1990s onwards, covering everything from commercial dance, house and club classics to EDM, commercial Drum & Bass, Garage, R&B, Hip-Hop, Indie, Rock and Metal. He particularly enjoys creating bespoke sets and playlists for genre-specific events, rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.

Baz is also a live DJ in the truest sense. Using professional Pioneer DJ equipment, he can mix on the fly, using harmonic mixing, phrase matching and creative transitions to build energy and create a seamless, club-style experience when the occasion calls for it.

Away from the music, Baz brings a level of professionalism developed through a tough and dedicated  full time career. Calm under pressure, confident on the microphone and comfortable dealing with people from all walks of life, he understands that being a great DJ is about much more than simply playing good music.  And the music is the leveller that allows him to escape.

Fully insured, PAT tested and DBS checked, Baz is a Professional Member of the National Association of DJs and the Pro DJ Network.

Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, private party, sporting event, themed night or venue residency, DJ SonOfJohn brings experience, personality and a genuine passion for keeping people entertained and the dance floor moving.
