House. Dance. Disco. Three DJs, one shared obsession with the music that fills dance floors — that’s The Weekend Warm Up DJs, made up of Rich Ellis, Steve Martin and Chris Denny.
Rich Ellis has been on the scene since the mid-1980s, cutting his teeth at school discos before moving into mobile DJing for weddings and birthdays. By 19 he’d turned his attention to pubs, bars and clubs, eventually landing bookings with major nightclub operators across the UK — with spells in Spain and Greece along the way — before settling back into the Midlands’ club and bar circuit. He tried the “proper job” route for a while, but DJing was always more of a love than a career, and that love has never faded. Rich still plays select events and festivals, and co-hosts the Weekend Warm Up Radio Show.
Steve Martin has been mixing his way through dance music since the 1990s, a familiar name on the House and Dance scene in Leeds and the North East. His knowledge of both Old Skool and current dance music runs deep, built from years immersed in the culture. Steve and Rich met in Nottingham in 2010 and instantly bonded over a shared love of House and Dance. Steve joined Rich in 2020 to launch the Weekend Warm Up Show together, and — like Rich — found that DJing stayed a passion rather than a job. He still plays select events and features weekly on the show.
Chris Denny brings roots stretching back to 1998, having built a strong reputation across Yorkshire and Greater Manchester playing bars and clubs. A vinyl junkie from day one, his foundations were shaped by vinyl culture, and over the years his sound has evolved through trance, techno, UK garage and commercial music — though house has always stayed at the heart of what he does, from classic groove-led house to uplifting vocals and disco-tinged modern cuts. Steve invited Chris to join the crew, and he now regularly produces mixes for the show.
Together, the three combine decades of experience, genuine crate-digging knowledge and a genuine love of the music to bring listeners the Weekend Warm Up Show on Eye103 — a weekly dose of House, Dance and Disco to kick the weekend off right.
